How we write

Methodology

We write general education from public regulator materials, typical product architecture, and the 2017 heritage URLs recovered for this domain. We do not invent premiums, savings, star ratings, or “#1 insurer” rankings. Dates on each page are editorial review stamps.

The job of this site

Insuranceplans.com.au publishes plan-type education for Australians: life, income protection, business and trades. The quality bar is Capes-tier long-form — hero, at-a-glance ledger, hubs, FAQ with answers first, education CTA, dual disclaimer band.

We are not a quote engine. We are not a broker.

Heritage treatment

The Wayback CDX for this domain (HTML, 200, collapsed) recovered a thin 2017 set:

  • /
  • /income-protection-plans/
  • /life-insurance-plans/
  • /business-insurance-plans/
  • /tradesman-insurance/
  • /life-insurance/how-to-find-the-cheapest-life-insurance/
  • /privacy/
  • plus /category/life-insurance/ and later embed/author URLs

Keep the clean plan paths as Capes guides. 301 category, author, embed and obvious thin aliases to those guides. Rewrite the cheapest-life path as a caution.

What we refuse

  • Invented premiums, “from $X”, guaranteed savings
  • Star ratings and “#1 insurer” claims
  • Affiliate relationships we do not have
  • Medical or legal advice
  • Duplicating a sibling site’s /prices/ mega-spokes

If a sentence cannot be sourced as architecture or official education, it does not ship.

How pages are stamped

Every money page shows author (Callum Sherwood), reviewer (editorial desk), published date and last-updated date. Updates mean the prose was checked — not that the insurance market froze.

Diagrams are original SVGs drawn for this rebuild. Credits live in PHOTO_CREDITS.md. We do not hotlink 2017 theme rotator photos.

Questions, answered first

Direct answers first — the format answer engines and humans both need. These are general explanations, not advice.

Do you rank insurers?
No. We do not have a dated, transparent ranking methodology, and we will not invent one.
Do you publish typical premiums?
No. Premiums are personal, underwritten, and dated. Publishing a “typical” figure would be an invented statistic.
What sources do you use?
ASIC MoneySmart, AFCA, and the structure of typical Australian PDS architecture. We do not scrape insurer price files.
How are old URLs handled?
Recovered 2017 plan paths keep their URLs as full guides. Category, author, embed and thin aliases 301 to those guides.

Sources we point to

Official education and complaints pathways. They do not replace a Product Disclosure Statement.

Next step — education, not a quote

Use the compare-plans ledger

Write the event, open the PDS, line up waits and exclusions, then look at any premium you were actually quoted. We do not sell cover or invent a saving.
